iPhone 16 screen blinking purple at low brightness

This happened to me also on my 16 plus, just about it was going to auto lock, during the dim state, it flickered pink. I changed from the stock Ultramarine wallpaper to another one and it has not happened again since. Seems to be a bug with the new wallpapers. I really liked the new ones also though. Hopefully they release a bug fix for this.

Similar issue on my iPhone 16. As the screen dims before going to sleep, it will suddenly turn purple. You can still see a little bit of the wallpaper, but all around it is purple. Then the phone goes to sleep. When I tap to wake it's back to normal. This doesn't happen each time, seems to be random.

I found another message board with someone saying it's an issue with the stock wallpaper. Since changing it off the stock, I haven't encountered the issue. Disappointing as I really like the stock wallpaper this year.

Ok, this is what I can confirmed, this happen only by using the default new wallpapers for the iPhone 16 & 16 Pro, it’s also happening on the lasted update so far (18.2.1) and sometimes it get really creepy by flickering; last night I saw it flickering for the first time for mine, I’d only saw it static before. As the matter of fact I shoot a video with an other iPhone but I can’t post it here, but here are some pics from the video from the flickering to the dimm out of the screen.

Upon checking , I discovered that the issue was caused by the newly installed wallpaper, particularly after customizing it. Remarkably, the issue completely disappeared and did not reappear after changing the wallpaper.

Heating is normal for the first few days as the phone is setting up in the background which may take some time. Yes the pink screen is indeed a bug and happens using the stock new wallpaper for the 16. Change to a different one in the meantime to resolve the issue. Worked for me.

Hi all, coming back to this thread for some update. Since updating to iOS18.1.1 on my 16 plus, I haven’t experienced this bug anymore with the said wallpaper. It seems like Apple has fixed it for this update.

According to Ccpi, this problem only occurs on the stock iPhone 16 wallpaper. And as Ccpi also said in a later comment, it seems to have been fixed in iOS 18.1.1.

After trying various troubleshooting methods, it seems the wallpaper was causing the blinking issue. Once I changed the wallpaper, the blinking stopped.

Yes, it also happened to me already with 2 new iPhones 16, the first one I bought 10 days ago and it presented this problem I went to the store where I bought it and they changed the device however the new one they gave me also has the same problem, even the new one overheats when I put it to charge

Im also having the same issue with my new iPhone 16 plus and the issue seems to be due to the stock wallpaper animation which is glitching on ios 18…Apple you need to fix this ASAP in the next update!!!

Yes, I have experienced a similar issue with my recently purchased iPhone 16. Approximately three weeks ago, the screen flickered and displayed purple blinking at the edges. This behavior was not observed in iOS 18.1.1. However, since upgrading to iOS 18.2, the issue has become more frequent and occurs randomly for only four seconds before disappearing on its own. Additionally, the auto-brightness and true tone features have been activated.

Apple just release iOS18.1.1 today. It comes with bug fixes - hopefully this is one of them that’s fixed! 🤞

Having recently updated to 18.2.1, I went back to the problematic wallpaper. So far a day has gone by and the problem hasn’t happened. Hopefully it has been fixed with this update!

RESOLVED!!. i just dont use the stock wallpapers in new ios. no more face this issue
