This answer does NOT address what happened to the Apple password icon in Settings (creating a total panic). We are not talking about third-party password apps.

What answer? I'm not sure what the confusion is? When iOS 18 was released, they made changes to several areas within iOS. One change was to remove Passwords from Settings and move Passwords into its own App. The moment you downloaded iOS 18, the app was placed on your last home screen. It holds ALL the passwords you had access to when it was still in Settings.

This is not a 3rd party Password app. It is Apple's Password app.

Found the All-New Passwords app
No doubt there was a reason, as there is for every human action, to move it to it's current location

It's in the same place on iPhone, iPad, and macOS, and moves all of the password and two-factor and passkey support to the same place.

But what the **** were you nerds thinking??????????

The people that work for Apple may or may not read postings around here.

How many websites are there are there on this planet that ask for two step verification?

An increasing number.

That can help avoid the folks that are re-using their passwords getting their everythings utterly pillaged, too.

A Degenerative move considering the number of apps moving to a time-limited 2nd-step code-reply

Passwords app supports that, both with the second-factor built in, and supports that with passkeys.

And why have you added so many steps to access the passwords app?

iPhone still remains a great product
But the iOS is sometimes so frustratingly impractical that I'm considering a Galaxy...yes, really!!!
What are the stats on customer loss after each upgrade?
What about whenever extra steps are added to an already existing multi-step process?

If an Android device works better for your needs, then by all means use it.

NOTHING is broken. Your passwords are now in an App, which by the way is easier to use than it was previously. To think nothing will ever change with technology is simply not realistic. Things change. They have always changed. They will always continue to change.

That’s not representative of anything in life, including life itself. Everything changes. Always.

(If nothing changed, you’d have a wall-mounted corded hardwired wooden phone with a crank. Or no phone at all.)

As for Passwords app, that app consolidated where all of this was scattered around, and simplified how it all worked.

Change for the sake of change is stupid. And that’s on Apple. My Home Screen is already filled with apps I want to use. Thanks though.

We can disagree. I for one REALLY LIKE the change. Putting Passwords in an App, instead of settings to me, was a smart move. Many people for years have paid for Password Apps, like OnePass. Now they don't have to continue paying for an App, when Apple gave them an app, without charge.

Easy. First off, leave it where it was. If it’s not a substantial improvement in usability, don’t change it. Or, have the tab in the settings like it always was, but make it be a notification with a link to the new passwords app. Could even be a one time pop-up that goes away after you acknowledge it the first time you access your passwords in the new iOS.

Telling only other users on a user to user only forum, which no one from Apple actively participates is a waste of time. We didn't have anything to do with this change. You may think it isn't an improvement in usability, but I most definitely don't agree with you. Whether we agree or don't agree however, makes no difference. Apple made the change and if you don't like it, tell Apple. And you can do that using this link --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple

This link works both ways however. I used it to tell Apple I think what they did with passwords is a great step forward in usability. I no longer have to open Settings, scan down to Passwords, tap there, then look for a password. All I have to do now is tap Passwords on my first home page, where I put it and then look for a password.

But why?? Why do it like this? It was so convinient. Now I need a password immediately, and now I can't find it anymore after updating to iOs18! Why to do such updates? Why focus on micromanaging things (like removing fast access to passwords) with each update instead of improving what really matters for customers? So frustrating.

Are you honestly saying it's harder to open a dedicated password app, which you can place in your dock or first home page is harder than opening settings, then looking for passwords, then tapping passwords, then looking for the right one? Tapping an app, then looking for the password you want, requires far less steps and is much easier.

Keep in mind that doing an upgrade on an update on a device that’s not capable of handling the future software to come is gonna cause a lot of issues you know so that that’s the reason why that’s probably But everything if you read inside the new update it’s for privacy and protection so it’s there. It’s all about customization completely get to really know what you’re doing. Get to know your phone so you can customize it the way that you would like it that’s all.
