Unable to receive or make calls from iPhone post iOS 18 update

Is anyone else having issues with calls failing/not being able to receive calls after iOS 18 update? It starts working again temporarily after switching phone off and on again, but within a few hours, I can't make or receive calls again until I restart the phone. This started immediately after updating to iOS 18.

Hello,

I was able to fix this over the weekend. In my case (iPhone 13; iOS 18.0.1):

-Incoming calls (excluding FaceTime) would not ring and go straight to Voicemail. This issue also left no missed call notification. I would only get Voicemails

-SMS Texts would fail to send (not including iMessage)

Solution: My carrier reset my line connection on their end (AT&T 611) and calls started coming in. After, I turned off RCS Messages and the SMS Texting started working again.

RCS: Settings > Messages > Scroll down to RCS > Toggle Off

Hope this helps!

I just started having this issue. I updated to iOS 18.4.1 and now most calls can't connect. I try to call and as soon as it connects, it disconnects. The recipient sees my call come in, but then it disappears before it actually rings. Same thing when people call me: I see the call come in, can't hit the answer button, then the call disconnects.

I've restarted the phone twice - no fix.

Verizon had me reset my network settings - no fix.

Verizon make some changes on their side (and promised it would be fixed) - no fix.

It is really frustrating to not see any solutions to this thread, considering how many people are having this issue.

I upgraded to iOS 18.5 on my iPhone 13 Pro 4 days ago. Since the update, I can’t receive incoming phone calls or voicemails. They do not show up in recent calls and I do not see any new voicemails at all. Turning my phone on and off again works temporarily (with a window of 5 minutes to 2 hours, most often only 5 minutes before I have to turn it on and off again). I have reset my network settings, focus is turned off, block unknown callers is turned off, and Apple diagnostic showed no issue. If my phone is off and someone calls and leaves a voicemail, I receive it once I turn my phone on.

Verizon told me it is a software issue and that they can’t do anything on their end, and that the issue is caused by this update. I know it is.

My phone is useless now and I can’t receive calls. This is affecting my business. I was told that I’d have to purchase a new phone to fix this issue. Why do I have to pay for a problem with apple’s software? I would expect the phone and software to work as intended and advertised.

I have tried everything except restoring my phone to factory settings. Does anyone have any ideas what else to try?

I have this issue as well, I think Apple is not interested in addressing this issue since it’s in older phones only . In my iPhone 12 all calls fail , I mean WhatsApp calls , FaceTime calls , carrier calls etc., I don’t know when I can make a call because all of a sudden it gets disconnected with call failed and then only after 10-15 mins I might be able to make a call again.

Anyways I waited for 2 months now , I am switching to android this week. My mom’s Motorola is wayy better than this ****** iPhone. So I think it’s time to switch.
