Keyboard is so slow I can barely type after iOS 18

My phone worked fine up until I installed iOS 18 and now it is barely usable. Whether I'm typing or using dictation it works normal for about three sentences as it slows down more and more until it's no longer usable. At that point I have to force quit the application and re-enter.

The same problem repeats and I have tried shutting off dictation, predictive text, auto capitalization, smart spelling, everything inside of the keyboard that is a setting I have tried

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution! Please look in the right direction.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

I appreciate the reply but I’m gonna use common sense. My phone was fine, I put it on my counter for half an hour while it updated and when I picked it up, the keyboard lagged and it’s useless.

Then when I go online to search for help there are thousands of people with the exact same problem? I can’t even believe I’m debating if this is a problem with the update it couldn’t be any more clear but do you know what would solve that problem right away? More common sense!… if Apple provided a link and allowed you to go back to the previous version then people like me could do that. That would confirm the problem and allow me to have a working phone while they fix it.

Instead they leave people with an almost useless phone for five or six months while they fix it.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. Every single time my phone gets a few years old, all of a sudden I’ll wake up to an update and my phone has a major problem. I think they do it on purpose to force people to buy a new phone. It’s brilliant, if everyone’s phone worked perfect they would never need a new one and Apple would make one 10th of the money
