iPhone 16 Pro camera Freezes

Probable temporary solution:

1. Disable sound detection

2. Restart device

--> no problem for 36 hours

I’m relived that it’s not just mine. I’m having to reboot my phone at least once a day, sometimes more. I was hoping iOS 18.0.1 would fix it, but the problem still remains. Freezes and screen goes black for at least 5 seconds and then glitches. Appears to happen when launching the camera via camera control, and physically selecting the camera app. I’ve been tempted to restore the device, but as some have already done this and the issue remains I’m going to refrain from that for now. Hoping iOS 18.1 fixes this issue.

18.1 has fixed it. I no longer have camera issues.

I have exactly the same problem. Apple did a diagnostics test which came as failed and they said they will replace the device... Well not really, they made me buy a new phone, when it arrives they will refund me the current one..

But reading this now worries me if a replacement is solution at all??!

I have the replacement iPhone and I can confirm the problem with the camera persists. I even called Apple support to do a stability test on the replacement device and this one passes the test, but the camera still has issues.

Yep, there is def an issue, I am now having to reboot the phone once a day. Apart from the camera freezing or going black, it also slows down entire phone, everything is laggy and clunky. Reboot fixes it for a day.

Again, I bought a new phone as I was told previous one was faulty, seems not.

Don't bother, it's pointless. I have sound detection disabled, this issue happens constantly.

What a mess. How did this pass QA? So many of us are having this issue. Apple really let us down with this one. $1500 for a phone that crashes when you try to take a photo.

I’ve had sound detection off since I got the phone. It’s been rebooted probably 50 times. Rebooting it 51 times isn’t going to fix the issue.

This experience taught me not to buy brand new iPhones, because evidently Apple does their quality control via customers instead of inhouse.

My recommendation would be to never Jailbreak.
