Why won't my Sony WH1000XM5 pair with iPhone 16 Pro?

Upgraded to an iPhone 16 Pro from the 13 Pro Max last week. Both devices were on iOS 18 and I had all data transferred successfully


I just can’t seem to pair the new phone with my Sony WH1000XM5 headphones no matter what I tried (ie reset network settings, software update on headphones, turning on and off). No problem pairing with CarPlay though. Anyone experiencing similar issues?


Apple needs to fix these issues fast. There’s no meaning to upgrade if there are so many problems with just basic connectivity

did you put the headset into pairing / discovery mode?

WH-1000XM5 | Help Guide | Pairing and connecting with a Bluetooth device (sony.net)


also make sure it's not connected to another device at the time, many headsets and speakers like to auto connect to the last device their were paired with, and if one wish to pair it with a new one one needs to disconnect it from the former first.
