Can no longer open Passwords in iPadOS 18

There were no eclipses (...) on my page, so Chuck Konfrst's instructions would not work for me. The only thing that worked was to a) Delete the Password App, b) Fully power down my iPad and reboot, c)Visit App Store and re-download Password App - and it all worked again. What a time-wasting and frustrating palaver!!

Found a fix.

Tap the screen controls at the top (three dots/ellipsis)

At the bottom of the screen, tap ‘New Window’

Passwords should now appear. You can close the blank window.

I deleted the app then reinstalled it from the app store on ipad mini 6 running 18.4.1. All the passwords came back and the app opened as it should with alphabetical list and the categories!

Delete Passwords app. Go to app store and re-install it. Done!

(This was someone’s response a few days ago and worked for me like a charm!)

Quit Passwords completely and update to iOS 18.0.1 which has just been published. This might correct the issue.

Had same problem . Ended taking back to factory settings and reloading from cloud .

UPDATE Mar 6, 2025:

This issue still happens on iPad OS 18.3.1, wasting lots of people’s time having to look up Chuck Konfrst’s fix (which works).

Us too, my husband just got a 9th generation iPad. It would not let us set it up until we updated to ios 18.1. It has the password app and the app shows he has 77 passwords but we cannot view any of them. Tried all sorts of things, even asked a rep at the local Verizon store. No idea why or how to resolve the problem. Can anyone help? I tried the fix suggestion but there is no screen with dots in the corner to open another window.

I had done all the reboots and relogged all fingerprints. Nothing worked. Updated to 18.2 redid all Apple recommendations. Still nothing.

Same thing on my iPad mini. Just finished a message with apple support for help with this.

The simple fix: find the Password app icon and delete the app, then search for the app at Apple App store and reinstall.

So, for some, this workaround works. The “3 dots/elipses” apparently are not there for some of us to use for the fix. Perhaps someone can explain how to get those to show up? Are they a function in Settings?

Like a dummy I up graded my iPhone too and password are gone from there too. What reason do they have for not wanting you to see or change your own passwords ?
