AirPods 4 - ANC activated even if the option is unchecked?

Hello everyone,

Quick question for those who own the new AirPods 4 with noise cancellation.

In this situation, no ANC or transparency mode is activated, the setting is on “Off”.

When I remove one AirPod, I hear the ambient noise in the other AirPod suddenly become clearer and louder, as if there is some sort of noise reduction activated when wearing both AirPods, even though no ANC mode is enabled.

I have reset the AirPods following the procedure on the official website, but it doesn’t change anything. Do you also experience this phenomenon? Is this a normal feature of these new AirPods 4 ANC?
