Home hub compatibility

My parents have a 1st Gen HomePod and an TV 4K 3rd Gen.

The HomePod was set up under a home with my mother’s Apple ID as the creator and the TV was set up with my father as the creator.

so I reset the TV so my mum was now the creator of both.

I added some home compatible smart plugs. All good.

but I wasn’t able to add some Nanoleaf matter GU10 bulbs.

I even turned the HomePod off so the TV became the controlling hub. But when adding to Nanoleaf app there was no option to add to Home and going through the settings when selected the Matter network none was selected and now was selectable.

Does the inclusion of a non-Matter hub together with a Matter hub on the same Apple Home prevent Matter working? If not any ideas why I can’t get the Nanoleaf bulbs to connect to Apple Home?
