The styles option does not appear when I attempt to edit a photo in the photos app after iOS 18.0.1 update

The styles option does not appear when I attempt to edit a photo in the photos app. I have a 16 pro max with the latest iOS update 18.0.1.

I do still show the filters, but not styles. What do I do?

I had the same issue. High Efficiency checked and style appears in Camera, but not in Photos.

Here is what fixed for me:

Go to Settings, and

  1. Go to Settings / Camera / Format and confirm that you have a check next to High Efficiency. Take a photo.
  2. Go back to Settings / Camera / Format and check Most Compatible. Take a photo
  3. Go back to Settings / Camera, and re-select High Efficiency. Take a photo. The Photos App will now show the Styles option in the Edit mode.

Unchecking and re-selecting the High Efficiency mode appears to reset it, and the Styles edit function in Photos.

Hope this works for you.

Hi, so check your photo album and select any photo. Once you’re viewing it, click on the “i” icon which stands for information in the middle. Check the details of the photo - does it say fusion camera or ultra wide camera? If it’s defaulted at fusion camera, this is why the photographic styles feature is off. Go back to your camera and in the viewpoint, you’ll see the numbers: 0.5x, 1x and 2x. These are your lens size. Switch it back to 0.5x. Take a photo. Now check and see if you can edit your photos using the preset photographic styles feature. Hope this helps!!!

I was having the same issue when I first received my 16 Pro Max. I don't know that it was the same problem, but even after all of my settings were correct, I still have issues with some photos, but not all. Apparently, at least for me, I could not see or use styles on photos taken prior to my upgrading my phone. I'm not sure if it was because the were pre-upgrade only or if they were not taken using the correct settings and can't be converted post-upgrade. Make sure your settings are correct and then take several photos (of anything) and see if styles work. If not, you are having a different issue.

Did you get it figured out? I tried all these things too. The only thing that finally worked was going under settings..then camera…then hit photographic styles..then go thru the tutorial. Then it worked with all these pictures I took after. Don’t know why this happened. I was able to edit styles after taking a picture after doing this. It just happened today. I did what I said above and it finally works.

To resolve this issue, you can try one of the following options:

1. Restart your iPhone: Power it off and turn it back on.

2. Force restart your iPhone:

• Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.

• Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.

• Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears, then release it.

I had the same problem, and it was fixed using this method. Let us know if it works for you!
