External drives not recognised with USB C cable

I’ve added a USB C hub to connect portable drives. That works fine but now my desktop hard drives aren’t recognised, even though they’re connected exactly as before I added the hub.

WD Elements external drive not recognized by new MacBook Pro I have a WD Elements external drive that I used with Time Machine on my old Macbook Air. I am trying to use it with my new MacBook Pro (running Tahoe 26.3) but it is not recognizing the drive. I checked the boxes to show external drives in finder settings, and the power light on the drive is illuminated. I ran first aid in Disk Utility. I restarted a couple times. Any ideas?

are they recognized if you connect them directly to the mac?

Thank you; they were recognised, I’ve been using them to store data for some time without problems. I purchased a USB C hub to connect archive disks, now only one EHD is recognised despite the others being connected directly to the Mac. Perplexing! Tomorrow I might try disconnecting the new hub, even though everything connected to it works. Hopefully you have some ideas, seems promising from your question.
