Not eligible for refund

So my 10 year son has a mental illness and he loves to play video games. He always has my phone or tablet, it’s been a struggle with him but these tools help him calm down. As of today I received in app purchases for over 139 items and a game called last war survival he downloaded from facebook were it looked like a learning game scrolling type were you collect numbers using math but it does involve shooting zombies cartoon style stuff no blood or gore. Anyway after logging into the game app for myself because I received notification about purchases in app using my debit card ranging over 780.00 in still see things pending I reached out to costumer services in app and Apple support reported the is but they denied me sent a response to try and dispute once more. Logging into this game for myself to see what it was it’s prompts you to purchase something every time it’s like the first thing you see so I on it’s my responsibility to secure my device but I never had this issue before. My question is, is there any way to get my funds back or do i contact my bank..

iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 17

Yes, securing your device is absolutely essential to prevent charges. Apple offers many tools to do that, but here are 2 that would have prevented that from happening:

  • Require Password for purchase

Require a password for purchases in the App Store and other Apple services - Apple Support

  • Prevent In-app Purchase

Use Screen Time to turn off in-app purchases on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Apple will usually give you 2 chances to request a refund and from your post, it appears that has already been done. In most cases, all transactions in the App Store are final, but in some cases Apple may provide a compassionate refund. It should never be expected though. You can try to contact your bank, but they may not find any fraud that has occurred that would grant you a refund. In addition, you may find that you won't be able to make any future purchases in the App Store.
