What is a swap repair for an iPad?

Took my iPad into the Apple Store today for a screen issue covered under warranty I’ve been advised it’s a swap repair what does this mean. I couldn’t understand the guy.

For practical purposes, in lieu of repairing and returning your own iPad, Apple usually exchange a qualifying iPad for a renewed/refurbished iPad of the same model and specification.

I'm guessing since I wasn't party to what the tech said, but most likely they'll exchange the iPad rather than repairing yours.

Hello~ When I took my iPad in for a checkup and the port was the issue …they took my iPad and swapped it out for another. I am answering your question from it right now.
