Unexpected Windows PC Appearing as a Device in My Apple ID

While reviewing my Apple ID device list, I noticed an unfamiliar Windows PC named “DESKTOP-7KGUB33” running Windows 10. This device appeared alongside my iPhone, iPad, Airpods, and Apple Watch. This was concerning as I had never signed into any Windows device, nor did I authorize any device for my Apple ID.

Details:

No sign-ins from my end: I did not log in to any Windows PC or Apple Store systems, and I haven’t used any external devices to access my Apple ID.

Message on the screen: Despite the presence of this unfamiliar device, under “Model - Windows” and “Version - Windows 10.0(0,0)”, it states “This device cannot be used to receive Apple ID verification codes.”

Apple Store Visit: The only recent interaction involving my Apple ID was an AppleCare+ appointment for my AirPods Pro 2nd Gen. at an Apple Store.

Actions Taken:

1. I removed the device from my account, changed my Apple ID password immediately and logged out of all devices.

2. I have 2FA enabled, and I have also checked for any unusual activity in my account (none reported so far).

3. No sensitive services, including iCloud, Apple Pay, or linked payment methods, are at risk as these are turned off or not linked.

Request for Help:

I need help determining if this Windows PC was linked due to a system or internal Apple process, or if it’s a potential security issue.

Quite certain.

While I do have a Windows PC, its device name does not match the one in question, and it doesn’t use any Apple software; my last use of it was playing Hogwarts Legacy in early 2023, and prior to that it hasn’t been turned on for years. I can’t recall a reason for ever needing to use a PC for any Apple-related activities, making accidental or forgotten use unlikely.

I’ve also reviewed my iCloud email account (going as far back as 2020), and the only sign-in notifications I’ve received were regarding my other Apple devices.
