I have been watching Appletv+ on my smart tv, however, today when I tried to watch it, it asked me to sign in again. So I scan the bar code with my iPad, but then nothing happens. It never goes to a screen where I can put in the code.

The QR code should link to the site link.apple.com with the 6 character code included.
You can go there manually as well, then manually entering the 6 character code as displayed on screen.
Alternatively, you can sign in manually with your Apple Account and password, using your remote and the on-screen keyboard.
If not using your own iPhone or iPad with matching Apple Account, you may be asked for an additional verification code for two-factor authentication, if that was set up for this account (you should).
