How can I change the email linked to FaceTime to setup my Apple Watch?

I’m trying to pair my watch with my phone. When I try and set it up it says I need to log into my email address for FaceTime but the email address that is showing is one that’s years old that I no longer have access too. This email address is not connected to any of my Apple ID or FaceTime accounts I’ve already logged on to check.. there is no other way to get into my watch and it’s really getting frustrating I’ve just wasted my money at this point!

The FaceTime access request does still seem peculiar as that typically does not occur early in the pairing process.

Perhaps this is worth a try: On the iPhone being paired, set Settings > Apps > FaceTime > FaceTime = “off” and then start the pairing process from scratch again.

If I understand correctly, you are attempting to pair a brand new Apple Watch just removed from a factory sealed box to your iPhone which uses iOS 17 or later. Your iPhone is signed in to your Apple Account (formerly called Apple ID).

You begin the pairing process and you then see a message that literally references “email address for FaceTime”.

Somehow that scenario seems implausible.

Please provide specific details of exactly how this pairing attempt started, what you tried, what you saw, what worked, what failed, and the exact wording of error messages.

its definitely not implausible no need for a sarcastic reply that’s not going to help anyone!

I try to pair it with my phone, it selects which language I should use, then it goes to terms and conditions and then it asks me to log into FaceTime but it comes up with an old email address of mine that hasn’t been in use for over 10 years. I get an option to enter the password for that account which I have tried to to and then it says “ this Apple ID is either not valid or supported “ and I can’t get past it.

The implausibility occurs because being asked to “log into FaceTime” is not something that ordinarily occurs early in the pairing process. We still don’t know, for example, if you’re referring to a brand new Apple Watch you received in a factory sealed box. Nor do we know if the iPhone had been previously paired with a different Apple Watch.

Anyway, maybe this will help.
