After iOS 18 update call forwarding will not work in iPhone 12 Pro

After ios 18 update, call forwarding will not work. I go to call forwarding, turn it ok, set my work number to be forwarded to. Then i can go back to it even 30 seconds later and it is turned off. It will not stay on call forwarding. It was working fine the day before installing ios 18. I have an iphone 12 pro.

KiltedTim is correct. Call Forwarding is a carrier supported feature. I'm on AT&T and under iOS 18 it works fine on all of my devices.

Did you try a Forced Restart after you updated to iOS 18? It's something I do after EVERY iOS update and I never have iOS related issues after updating.

Give it a try and remember the procedure for future updates, but if it doesn't help, do as KiltedTim suggests and contact T-Mobile for help --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Apple changed the location of many of the phone settings when they updated to ios 18. A whole heap of apple application settings now live in Settings-Apps-Phone. After the ios 18 update, the "Live Voicemail" setting was turned on and Apple was answering my calls, recording the audio and forwarding the calls to a voice mail system that I don't use. This caused me hours of wasted time, testing the wrong settings and blaming my cellular provider.

I'm pretty upset that Apple used an ios update to trojan my phone and record my calls.

C.F. was always touch and go with T-mobile. We just migrated our lines to Verizon and The feature is totally GONE from our work phones. To make matters worse, calls are stuck in C.F. mode to our personal phones. Any ideas ?

A bit late perhaps, but with Verizon, you can't turn CF on or off from the phone. You need to dial the shortcode.

*72 then the number, *72 to turn it off. Or use the Verizon app.

Ok- and the only different between when it was working and when it stopped working was the night after i updated to iOS 18 it stopped working.

it is the app on the phone that is not working. I turn it on, set the number and lock my phone only to find it didn’t work. When I go to check. I open the app and has turned itself off. Every single time since updating.

carrier is T-Mobile

Sorry, but you are completely misinformed. Apple was most definitely NOT recording your calls. Apple CANNOT record your calls. They can't listen to your calls. Live Voicemail is handled by your carrier and Apple has NOTHING to do with your carrier. Your carrier does store your voicemail messages. They have ALWAYS stored your voicemail messages. And Live Voicemail, is nothing more than a transcription of a message, which again is a feature provided by your carrier.

Hey Lobster - check out apple description of Live Voice Mail:

Use Live Voicemail on your iPhone – Apple Support (AU)

"If you don't answer a call while on your carrier network, it's also sent to Live Voicemail."

"When Live Voicemail is on, your phone picks up incoming calls to capture the caller's voicemail for you to see in real-time."

"Your voicemails are never deleted on your behalf"

"If Visual Voicemail is turned on, voicemails captured by your network provider also appear in the Voicemail tab. If your iPhone is turned off or out of your network provider's range, calls go to network provider

voicemail. Otherwise, the call goes to Live Voicemail."

Seems pretty clear to me - under multiple circumstances Apple are recording the caller's audio and calling them Voicemails. People can debate whether Apple will use the audio for other purposes but from my point of view this should never have been on by default. I just realised that I'm breaching my callers privacy by not warning them that Apple is collecting their voice data.

Apple is explaining how Visual Voicemail works. Apple isn't recording your calls. EVERYTHING on your iPhone is encrypted and Apple has NO ACCESS to what is on your phone. Don't create problems which aren't real.
