Screen freezes in Landscape in Messenger app.

Recently every time I use my text messaging app it freezes in landscape mode and will not go back to portrait mode. I understand this is happening numerous times to other people, and I cannot get it back occasionally when I turn the phone off, let it set and turn it back on it will reset but will do it again within the next day or so.
