Life of Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter

How long does an Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter last?

Lately, I've noticed that the audio in my headphones cuts out and is replaced by a clicking sound when connected to an adapter. I have a preference for wired headphones over Bluetooth ones, hence my reliance on a lightning adapter when I am not using my airpods.

I've attempted using both Apple and non-Apple headphones, and even tried the same adapter with a different iPhone, but the clicking persists. When I purchase a new adapter, it functions flawlessly with the same headphones and phone. The charging is unaffected and the sound is clear with a new adapter, which raises questions about the lifespan of an adapter. My current one is approximately six months old and is used infrequently.

iPhone 14, iOS 18
