Unable to change payment method in Apple Account tied to iCloud + subscription

My card expired and Apple tried charging for my iCloud+ subscription without success. I then tried adding my new card as the new payment method and remove the old expired card, but it won’t let me remove it since the iCloud+ subscription is somehow tied specifically to that card.


What do I do? I don’t want to lose all my data.

It isn't tied to that particular card, you just need to add the other card first, then you can remove it.

1) ”If you change your address, the credit or debit card information that you use with your Apple Account might be automatically updated by your financial institution, and you don't need to take action.”

2) “If there's an issue [such as you having a subscription or being a Family Sharing Organizer], add a new card first, then remove the old card."
