Alarm not working- silent, only showing banners

Friends, if you are having this problem, Apple won’t help you. The only useful thread on this topic has been locked by them in their wisdom. However, I tried a random thing that seemed to work. I have several alarms set. I went into one and changed the ringtone. To my amazement, they all began working then. This is obviously a bug that Apple has no interest in fixing. Since I rely on my alarms to take medication or meet important appointments, my annoyance level at Apple is sky high right now.

Okay, I apologize for my snarky first post. What is maddening about this forum is that often, the "solutions" given don't work. The threads die out not because the problem is fixed, but because there *is* no solution.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Like the many other people who asked about this, it one day simply stopped making a sound when the alarm went off. It did show banners, but it didn't vibrate and my watch didn't vibrate, either.

I tried all the suggestions mentioned in the post I found most informative from Apple - for example, making sure my earphones weren't out of their case nearby, my car wasn't on (so the sound wasn't transferring to it through bluetooth), the ringer wasn't off or turned down. I turned the phone off and on. I rebooted. No go.

Finally, in desperation, I randomly tried changing a ringer sound on one alarm. Suddenly, all the alarms were making sounds and vibrating again.

Thank you for your patience with me, and, again, I'm sorry I was snippy.
