iTunes download error -3253 on Windows

I purchased an album from iTunes. When I try to download it, I get the message-

"The network connection was reset."

Beside each song it says "Err= -3253


I am on a Windows computer using iTunes.


Any ideas?

Some things you can try:


  • Delete the Downloads folder inside your iTunes Media folder
  • Make sure your computer's clock is set to the correct time and time zone
  • Clear your default browser's cache
  • In iTunes use Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset iTunes Store Cache
  • Reboot your router and computer
  • Temporarily disable any anti-virus software or add an exclusion for the iTunes Media folder
