Can I use a USB-C hub for my MacBook Pro M1?

I have a MacBook Pro M1 (2020) laptop that only has two USB-C ports. I am using a second monitor, and I had to get a VGA to USB-C Thunderbolt adapter. When I plug that in to one of the ports by itself, it works fine. The problem is that I would like to have the laptop plugged in to save the battery, and I also have a USB-C extension with three ports that I plug my headset into. I would like to be able to get a USB-C extension where I could plug the video cable into it, as well as my headset, and then use the other USB-C port for power. I tried to do this with a non-thunderbolt extension, but it wouldn't work (presumably because the extension was not a thunderbolt).

Hopefully, this makes sense. Is there some kind of extension where I could plug both my headset and monitor USB-Cs into, or plug the power into the extension along with the headset USB-C.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you!
