Open Port 62078 (iphone-sync)
Hello Apple Community,
I’m reaching out with a concern regarding my iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 18. While using an app called Fing on my Android device to scan my network, I discovered that port 62078, labeled "iphone-sync," is open on my iPhone. This has raised alarms about potential security vulnerabilities, especially since I’ve read that there is a zero-click exploit associated with this port that you can find with a quick search.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Factory Reset: I reset my iPhone to original settings. However, after reinstalling a single app and setting up Face ID, the port reopened.
- Background App Refresh: Disabled this feature to limit unnecessary app activity.
- Permissions Review: I’ve checked app permissions to restrict access where possible.
I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced this issue with port 62078 and whether it’s typical behavior for iPhone syncing. Should I be concerned about privacy and security?
Any insights or recommendations on how to close this port and ensure my device is secure would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help.
Best,
Ahmed Cs
