Apple Website Ordering signature required or not

On the Apple Website, when ordering a product the order form does not list if a signature is required. I recently ordered an Apple Watch 10 and the order form did not list if a signature was required, however upon delivery UPS stated a signature was required from Apple not them. Same happened on ordering the iPhone 16 Pro. Nothing was listed on the order form even though Apple’s computer sent that information to the Carrier. The tracking number did not show a signature was required, however upon delivery, signature was required and UPS said that was from Apple?

Apple's official statement on deliveries says:

Apple chooses which carrier will deliver your shipment, and some of our shipments require a signature. Your Shipment Notification email will tell you whether a signature is required. The carrier may also require a signature at their discretion.

I don't know of any way to choose to have them send a shipment with a signature requirement, though you can always ask. Another option, one which I elect when I order something of any value from Apple, is to arrange to pick up the item at a local Apple Store. I highly recommend that if there's an Apple Store in your area since carrier theft and "porch pirates" abound. Absent, that, you can sometimes arrange to pick up a shipment at your carrier's location.

Regards.

I believe high value items from Apple should require a signature however without knowing caused missed delivery’s from Apple. If a signature is required I would have made arrangements with the carrier or my neighbor to retrieve the package. Any other company that I have dealt with lets you know on your order if a signature is required. The issue is Apple website should spell that out. I have had other items from Apple just left on the porch so that’s where the confusion comes in.

Thank you for your reply, however the Shipment Notification emails on both products did not show a signature was required, if they had I would have taken the appropriate action. That seems to the issue with Apple's online order computer management system. UPS also stated the signatures required did not come from them. The whole point is to have Apple look into the inconsistencies and if a signature is required it should be on the Shipment Notification Email. I am not near an Apple Store however your advice is correct to arrange to pick up everything ordered from Apple at the carriers location.

Since that was an Apple product I think that on the missed delivery sheet the option to pick up at the carriers location was greyed out, possibly because that information has be given to the carrier beforehand.
