AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Test fails with "Unable to classify due to background noise" error.

Hearing test keeps stopping stating it is unable to classify due to background noise. The only noise is me breathing! I've tried four times now and can't get through one ear without the test stopping at 75% finished.

Same error - "Unable to Classify" because of background noise. I was in a closet with no noise. Tried 3 times. Left ear completes and right ear almost completes and I get the same error.

Current Firmware 7B19 on AirPods Pro 2. Just updated to iOS 18.1 today. So the software is up to date.

My wife is having the same problem. I have done the test twice with no problem. We have the same hardware and firmware. Could it be something with noise getting into the airpods that is coming from within and not outside noise? We did the hearing test in the exact same place, a very quiet inside room. The ear is connected to a lot of places, nose, sinus and mouth. Has anyone answered yes to the initial question about cold, congestion, etc.? For my wife, we use the Mimi app and imported that audiogram and it works fine.

Same story as the rest. Probably have tried 6 times. I finish the left hearing test no problems but the right gets to the end and says "Unable to Classify". Tried in several rooms and even did the test with my Beats Studio headphones over the AirPods Pro 2 and still get the same results. There must be a bug of some kind.

I assume each time there's a hearing test click that a signal goes to a Apple web based hearing system used for calculating and determining hearing loss. I wonder if, with so many people suddenly doing concurrent hearing tests, the hearing test system is simply overwhelmed and losing track of clicks and times out for most of us. So, essentially, what we are all doing is actually a mass test of this new hearing health evaluation system.

Same problem with me - "Unable to Classify" because of background noise. I tried the hearing test on my iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 18.1 more than 15 times, but always failed during the test for the left ear, the test canceled after about 60-80 %. I also tried on an iPhone 12 mini with iOS 18.1 and the hearing test worked 3 out of 6 times. I did the tests in a very quiet room, there was absolutely no noise. I took the data from the successful tests on the iPhone 12 mini and transferred them manually to the Health app on my iPhone 12 Pro so the AirPods can now use that audiogram for adjustments.

My wife kept trying with only not able to classify. At least 10 times. I have the same phone and airpods and firmware and 4 out of 4 tests went fine. I decided to try her phone and airpods in the same room she was using. I got thru the whole test, no problem. I sure hope Apple will figure it out. As I mentioned in a previous post, she is using a Mimi audiogram. She has no problems with that app over many tests. We both have slight to mild loss primarily due to age. The airpods really do help making all sound clearer for both of us.

Weird that the leakage music is loud for you. It’s definitely not loud for me. I do have an 80db cap set for my AirPods so maybe that makes a difference. Over ear protection over the AirPods is one of the first things I’ve tried and have tried multiple times. It makes zero difference for the bug that’s causing it to fail after completion.
