“something went wrong” multiple failed Whatsapp transfer from 13 pro max to 16 plus

Unable to transfer chats and history from old iphone to new iphone. Old iphone being 13 pro max, new being 16 plus. Both currently on newest ios system 18.1 and whatsapp version 24.21.82. (29/10). Both connected to same wifi, both have local network. Both with more than 70% battery, side by side. Able to get to scanning of qr code(old) and displaying of qr code(new). Both phones connect and status becomes “preparing” (old) and “waiting for old phone to prepare” (new). Then error notice pops out stating an error has occurred and retry. I have restarted both phones waiting for more than 1min, took out sim cards, tried with sim card in new or old phone. Now my count down of sms and calling are 6hrs and 1.5 hrs long. Are there anything else that i can try to solve this?
