This iPhone is supervised and managed - private phone

All of the sudden this message is showing in my settings: This iPhone is supervised and managed.

It is a private phone with no work related apps on it.

I did go to General - VPN & Device Management. Here there was something called "Untitled" which I deleted.

I then restarted my phone, but the message still appears.

Can someone please explain why the message appeared and how to git rid of it?

iphone 8, IOS 16.7.10

Thank you

In the message, does it say who the iPhone is supervised and managed by?

This seems to be a case of a device under the supervision of an MDM (mobile device management) software.

If that is the case, removing the profile will not remove your iPhone under supervision.

To have the message removed, you will need to find the person who placed this device into the MDM.

Only they can remove it for you.

That could be a reason.

I am just speculating that the first/previous owner probably went for an ABM (Apple Business Manager)/ ASM (Apple School Manager) + MDM setup with this device. Even if they were to remove it from the MDM, it would have to be removed from ABM/ASM.

The existence of the message may still suggest it is yet to be removed from the first owner's ABM/ASM portal.

I would suggest contacting Apple regarding this issue.
