Issues with imessage/facetime after iOS 18.1 update

I have the iphone 15 pro. After updating to iOS 18, I had network issues where my phone would have an SOS where my service bars would be and a "No SIM available" notification on my phone. I would have to enable/disable airplane mode to get service again or I would have to restart my phone a few times. The option to toggle cellular data is also missing from the cellular screen in settings when the service goes down. Today, I updated my phone to 18.1 assuming that they would have fixed this annoying network issue. However, after the update, my facetime/imessages don't work. The facetime toggle and imessage toggle are automatically disabled/turned off and when I try to toggle it back on for imessages, I get an "error with activation" message. When I try to toggle it back on for facetime, I get a continuous loop with the same message that I have to close the entire settings page to exit the loop. Anyone else notice this issue?

I had the same issue. I updated to 18.1 this morning then iMessage stopped working. Tried to turn it back on in Settings > Messages but kept getting an activation error. I reset my network settings and it came back on. Hooray! Here is the path: General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Hope this helps someone else.

Same here. I restarted my phone, went into the settings and turned iMessage off and back on again and after a few minutes it righted itself. Now it’s fine. Also it may have had something to do with your internet connection. Or it could be your cell phone reception. I watched it while it was having issues and it went to one bar. As soon as it came back up iMessage came back. Very strange.
