Mac book pro jumps back to previous browser window or close windows when I drag across text

When I drag my cursor across text to copy or edit, my MacBook Pro jumps to the previous browser window or closes the browser window. This happens across many platforms while I am editing a website or updating my project management tool.

unable to edit in pages. Space bar suddenly stops spacing, and curser jumps to different location In pages, I keep ending up fighting with a "yellow" box around the document, and I can't edit a document if I walk away from it for a few moments. This also happens in mail drafts and sometimes just in google search bar...my words string together, it appears the space bar is not working. then, my curser keeps jumping to another location. this is a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021) running Monteray 12.6.7.

Missing "poof" cursor issue (MacOS Ventura 13.4.1) Hello, On this official apple website, on the second row of the table, it says that the poof cursor becomes visible when "the item you’re dragging will disappear when you release the button." However, I do not see the cursor when I drag app icons out of the dock and release them. Is there another way to get this cursor? Thank you :)

Click first, then Drag with one finger on trackpad.

If you have the two- or three-finger swipe gestures active on the trackpad you may have to be more deliberate in your actions when dragging across text to select and edit.

Thank you. I do not use the trackpad; I use a mouse.

I don't use a mouse anymore on any of my Macs.
