Have used process of pressing up / down volume buttons and then power button and that was working but now iphone is frozen and wont respond to that process. Software is at 18.1 and phone is fully charged

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem.

Thanks Lawrence. Previously, it worked in first try - this time it took about 15 attempts but did manage to get it restarted. Thanks for your reply .
