Notes from my iPhone disappeared post accepting new iCloud Terms and Condition.

Every answer from Apple is useless for this issue. The reality seems to be that if you had any locally stored notes and then turn on iCloud Notes then all your locally stored notes will vanish forever. There is no syncing that happens like it should. Lost many important notes due to this and to be honest am surprised there’s no lawsuit on this. There is no warning that you will lose everything by initiating this action as example.

Same here! They do appear in my macbook so at least I know they are not gone forever, but I got scared at first because they don’t appear in my iphone (se 2020, iOS 16.smth). Hope they fix it soon.

Yep, me too! Extremely frustrating. I contacted Apple Support and they had no idea how to transfer them back to my phone. If Apple themselves don’t know how to do it, how are we supposed to know. Hoping we find an answer soon.

All of my IOS Notes just disappeared after getting a notification from settings saying to accept the new iCloud terms and conditions if i wanted to keep using iCloud on my phone. I did so and they are gone. Any idea on how to restore them?

CompactSwing you’re actually a lifesaver. went to my notes app to put down a draft for a bug report on discord and found out all of my notes were gone; figured it was because of the icloud agreement. i had several medication logs, years of writing, notes for video game builds, and dream logs — all stuff i don’t want to lose. thank you. i seriously thought i lost all of it.

Big FAIL by Apple. They failed by letting this happen in the first place ( ie. notes ‘vanishing’) and they failed when they did not send out a notice on how to fix the situation. Lucky we had community to rely on

This happened to me today and I rely so heavily on my notes.

So good to see others with the same issue as I don’t feel totally alone and hugely frustrated!

I did as you suggested but the only notes that have came back are all my historic ones!

I have no notes reappearing since Feb 2021!!

Help! I really need my notes back.

The exact thing has happened to me. Agreed to the terms last night. This morning I’ve gone into notes to find important information I keep for work and it’s all gone, apart from notes I made in 2016? I have course work notes in there and tax return notes all all kinds of log in details etc.

I wrote a new note yesterday and it was added to another thing that wasn’t public. I restarted and did everything this said but it’s not coming up at all. It was very important and I’m devastated it’s gone. I hit the three dots and I think hid it or made a seperate folder-seperate folder is gone.

I restarted my phone. Nothing. Anything else I can do?

All of my notes from March of this year (2024) until now were not saved to my iCloud before this happened. They're just completely gone. I reached out to Apple Support, but there was nothing they could do. I write a lot in my free time, but now all of my recent stories are gone. If anyone can help me fix this, I'll be enternally grateful to you. :'(

For me just bring back my note from 2021 although I paid extra to app to have more iCloud space and they supposed to keep all my notes ( before it shows iCloud has my notes) but now even in iCloud no new notes has stored, very sad I have a lot of documents save on my notes

Some of my notes came back but up until 10/25. Nothing after that! I have really important notes after that and many that I updated after that, too!! Anyone have that happen and was able to successfully retrieve them? This is a disaster!

Thank you sooo much!!! I tried A few others suggestions with no luck and was panicking. I have too many important notes (that realistically shouldn’t be on my phone) that I depend on daily. I followed your instructions and they finally came back!

Same here!! I just tried for two hours to fix it. I thought me or one of my little ones accidentally deleted everything until I put two together about the iCloud update! I tried going to iCloud to see if I can put it back onto the phone but there doesn’t seem to be a way! I hope they fix it soon. I need all my notes! It’s one of my most used apps.

I had the same happen to me. It happened because I didn’t agree to begin with, I closed the app bc it was taking ages. But after I saw it deleted all of my notes, I went back and did it. Then I watched my notes come back BUT the issue is that it’s about 2 months BEHIND

ive lost MONTHS worth of notes because of this and I’ve been talking to Apple support. They’re suggesting I update my phone and make sure I’ve got enough storage and whatnot. This is insane frustrating and I’m really bothered by this. These notes are SUPER important

im on an iPhone XR on version 16.1 but am updating to iOS18 rn
