Notes from my iPhone disappeared post accepting new iCloud Terms and Condition.

i was freaking out so bad because i'm a writer and i have most of my unfinished drafts and such in my notes app because i'm stupid i guess idk but this worked thank u so much i hope you have a fantastic day <3

Just went to my notes and they were gone! I came here immediately and I too had just accepted the new ICloud terms! I was horrified that they were all gone and I had no idea what happened. Thank goodness for this discussion, I followed what the person above 👆me advised and it did take a few minutes to get all my notes but they did finally come onto my phone! Thank you !

Mine disappeared today to. 10 years of them from each iPhone I’ve had. They are EXTREMELY important. I have bible notes for studies I give. And I spent months writing them. And I need them for Saturday’s teaching.

now they are gone.

I went to sync them and my phone is already SUNCED so that is an EPIC FAIL.

All the same issues with my 7plus. I accepted required terms 11/6/2024. Next day all notes vanished. My notes are supposed to be backed up on iCloud, and yes still toggled on. However, they are not there either. Something like 4 years worth simply gone. I have yet to find a deleted folder, actually I have zero folders in notes nothing at all there. They are very important. Thank you for the information not to delete the app!

I did press CANCEL when it said ‘delete from iPhone’ as I did not want to risk it and all the notes still returned without actually switching the SYNC off ….

Did you finally manage to get them back in your iPhone? I have restored just the ones from iCloud before year 2021 that are not important to me. And nothing from the years 2023-2024 that I had saved only on my iPhone….

Did you have any folders and sub folders created? If so, did your folders and sub folders return back to normal? When I followed the steps you gave, everything came back but they all came back as folders. No sub folders👎🏾

i have iphone13 and when you toggle the “sync this iPhone off it asks you to choose Delete from my iPhone or cancel. It shows the command clocking while waiting for a response. It does not turn off at that point. After 5 minutes of waiting it still doesn’t toggle off. If I choose the delete option will it also delete the notes on iCloud?

Anything after October 28 is completely gone. Not even on my iCloud account on the website.

You indicated that it asks if you want to delete your notes from your phone My interpretation of the option is that if I select that it will proceed to delete the notes on my iPhone. Is there another step you see after you select the option. I don’t perceive that to be the way it works

It didn’t work for me. My iCloud was full, so it wouldn’t restore from there. And i tried to go turn on the on my iPhone option and zero notes popped up. Apple should have given some warning that if your notes weren’t backed up, they would be lost by signing these new terms. I’m so mad. I lost some very important medical documentation, as well as lots of other things. Super upset.

Seriously!! And why would anything like that delete notes off my device…… if my iCloud was full then fine, they should have defaulted to store locally and Apple shouldn’t have had the option of deleting them. I’m so angry!

I’m right there with you!!!! All my notes from 2024 are gone. It pulled up others (i hope all, but I’m not sure). It is showing notes from 2023. And u didn’t have them stored in iCloud due to no more storage. This is BS that it just deleted from our phones. They better fix this and bring our notes back.

You are a Star, your checklist of how to’s worked like a charm, your easy instructions made it all easy peasy. I now have all of the lost notes back in order. I likely have 200 recipes on hold in Notes which is hilarious since I never get around to cooking.

All iCloud Notes = 1,787

After following instructions to reset Notes on my iPad, 802 have been restored … after 3 days. The little gear is still spinning and every once in a while a few more are added to the total. Several folders still not showing. At this rate it may be weeks before it is recovered. Oh, please, find an alternative to the frequently freezing up Notes.
