Can't turn autocorrect off on my MacBook Air (Sonoma)

On my Mac in Support/Keyboard 'correct spelling automatically'; turned off, yet the 'Messages' app still autocorrects (poorly). Is there some other place I need to turn it off?

Why does my Mac keep suggesting a correct word is spelled incorrectly and suggesting a wrong spelling? I've had a running issue I can't figure out. It seems to mainly impact the Mail program on my Mac. When I type messages, it will underline words that it says are spelled incorrectly...but they are correct. When I click to look at their suggestions, it will suggest an incorrectly spelled word. For example, I correctly typed the word "simple" in an email, and it was underlined as incorrect this was proposed. These are not words that I mistakenly added to my dictionary at some point. It happens often with all sorts of words. How do I fix this? Thank you.

How to Get My Mac to Learn Spellings MacBook Air, Apple M2, 16 GB. I rely on speech to text and there are words I use all the time which the dictionary always spells incorrectly. There are no options in the drop-down menu, when I click on that word, to change the spelling. When I looked in help all that came up was a suggestion to change spelling in a contact card if it was a name. I tried that with one of the words it always misspells, inventing a contact with that word as its name. Didn't work! Also found: Add and remove words from the spelling dictionary Add a word: Control-click the word in your document, then choose Learn Spelling in the shortcut menu. The word is added to the macOS dictionary used by Pages and other apps. There is no Learn Spelling choice in the shortcut menu.

Spelling check not working on Mac Hello! It has been a few months since my grammar/spelling check stopped working across the whole MacOS, for every app. I have checked the basic settings under 'keyboard' but nothing has changed... and even updating to Ventura didn't fix it. Any ideas? Thank you!
