Imovie wont let me add my 4k video

Im trying to import my movie clip that i shot on my iphone 15 to the imovie app. The other clips i took not in super HD show the plus sign for me to add no problem but the HD one only shows what looks to be a play arrow or three dots I think to like download it to a cloud. I don't know how else to import it, its a 12 min video can i split it somehow before i add to imovie or change the resolution?

Hi,

Try downloading it from the cloud and then importing into iMovie.

You also can try exporting to your desktop and from there importing into iMovie.

iMovie supports 4k at 30fps. Check your frame rate and see if perhaps your 4k clip is a much higher frame rate.

If still no luck, export the clip to your desk top and re-format it to H.264, Mp4/AAC with the free download, Handbrake. Handbrake will do by default the reformatting per the above.

You can get Handbrake here:

https://handbrake.fr/

A simple way to do it is to open Handbrake and do a File/Open Source. Navigate to your video and choose it as the source from the resulting screen. Then do File/Start Encoding. Wait a couple of minutes for the conversion to

complete. Then save and import the converted clip into iMovie.
