Apple ID problem with older iPad....
I got an older iPad Air model: A1474
and I want to use my current Apple ID with it
got this message. why is this?

Have you enabled Advanced Data Protection and/or Account Recovery features on her Apple devices?
Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > iCloud > Advanced Data Protection
If either of these features have been enabled on any devices that are running iOS/iPadOS 16.2 or later, you will not be able to sign-in with your Apple credentials on any devices that are not running iOS/iPadOS 15.x or later.
The banner message indicates that your iPad Air1 cannot be updated to a version of iOS/iPadOS that allows use of the device while you have Advanced Data Protection / Account Recovery enabled for your AppleID account. The Air1 cannot be updated beyond iOS 12.5.7.
As such, you have two options:
a) disable the features that are preventing use of your AppleID with the older device
b) replace the iPad Air1 with a much newer model that meets the minimum OS requirement
