Hulu app won’t stream on AppleTV iPad or iPhone

I get a P-DEV314 error code on all devices. We’ve done all the rebooting of the router, devices, and uninstalled/reinstalled Hulu app at least 10 times. Our internet connection and speed is great. Even went so far and reset AppleTV to factory settings, updated software again, and reinstalled Hulu app. Same error message pops up!

Suggestions? We’ve stumped all of the help desks.

Thank you

We’ve stumped all of the help desks.

Only the Hulu Help Center applies for this; it is their error code.

The bottom of the page lists Live Support from their staff.

When does the error show? When opening the app, or after signing in, or after starting playback?

Possibly something is off about the internet connectivity. Is there something unusual about that? Do you have a VPN active? Are you outside of the US? Do you have an old model modem-router perhaps? Does it work on iPhone when on cellular (instead of Wi-Fi)? If so, then what does your ISP say about that?

Possibly something is off about your Hulu account? Can you create a new user for testing?

Do you have a bundle subscription of Hulu and other streaming service(s)?

Thank you for your suggestions. We’re not on a VPN and have been troubleshooting with the Hulu team for two weeks trying most of the things you’ve suggested but the same error message pops up. Chatted with internet provider and they don’t see any issues on their side. Cancelled subscription and started a new one, and even tried Sling but had a different issue with them (app wouldn’t open at all). So we thought maybe it was our Apple devices. So chatted with Apple and even tried resetting our AppleTV to factory settings. Long shot but we’d become desperate. I couldn’t believe I am alone in this bizarre problem hence my post here. We’d subscribed for the Hulu bundle that includes Disney+ and ESPN. They aren’t working either. So I called Disney’s tech support after my post here and I believe Daniel discovered the cause of our strife. He had us try the Hulu app using our cellular service instead of Wi-Fi (one of your questions) and Hulu worked!! So the internet is the issue but all other streaming services work fine. So still odd. Through his diligence we learned we have an IPv4 IP address and no IPv6 address. For some reason Hulu’s apps are sometimes experiencing problems with IPv4 addresses.

So my next stop is to contact my internet provider and see about changing our IP address to an IPv6. I’ll let ya know if that fixes the issue.

Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful suggestions and questions.

Well our internet provider does not have public IPv6 addresses. I’ve done more internet searching and there’s at least a few folks who indicate there is an issue with Hulu and how they use IP addresses.

So we remain SOL with the Hulu bundle and will have to use a different live tv streaming service. YouTube is working fine right now.
