Custom keyboard shortcuts for window tiling don't work

Has anyone been able to configure custom keyboard shortcuts for MacOS window tiling? The default shortcuts require two hands because they are located on opposite sides of the keyboard which is dumb. I like to set an easy shortcut I can toggle with my left hand as I work.

I'm trying to use a custom keyboard shortcut in Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts > App Shortcuts. It should be really straight forward. You specify "All Applications", enter "Left", "Right" etc for which ever window tiling function you want to customise and specify a new shortcut for it. No matter what I do, nothing works. I've tried everything and ensured my shortcut doesn't clash with others. Is this just a bug?

I have been using the app Rectangle for years, for exactly this, and it doesn't makes sense to have to continue using that just because it allows a custom shortcut, when the same feature is now already baked in to MacOS natively

I found that specifying the full path to the menu options was required for me to get my desired keyboard shortcuts working. So instead of just `Left` I specified exactly `Window->Move & Resize->Left`.

Good news: I have found that certain key combos do work.

What the OS is lacking, is a proper indication if key combos will not work.

Using this and a programmable keyboard works fine, but some users might want to bind to less complex combos.

Irritating experience

@Glyph, I hear you! Same issue since the release of the new macOS that supports tiling – it's crazy that it's THAT broken and this is just about the only post I found flagging this issue! I'm also still stuck with Rectangle for this reason.

I'm exploring some hacks with Karabiner-Elements and trying to figure out if that could help solve the issue.

In some aspects Apple is just insane.
