iPhone says "Swipe Up to Unlock" even after using Face ID

After I use FaceID to unlock my iPhone 16 Pro Max, it now says "swipe up to unlock" at the bottom instead of opening right to my home screen.

I had toggled the "require attention to unlock" function on and off while looking to see why my phone no longer unlocked whilst wearing sunglasses, and now it seems there is no way to get rid of this extra step.

I have done 2-3 force resets.

Swiping up has been the normal procedure for every iPhone I've had or been familiar with. Face ID to my knowledge doesn't eliminate that step, it just saves you from having to enter in your passcode. If there's a way to open the iPhone just by looking at it, without the swipe-up, I've never heard of it. See:
