Since iOS 18.1.1 update apple carplay not reading messages

Since running the new iOS 18.1.1 update last night my iPhone 14 Pro when connect to my Mazda cx30 apple car play Siri will not read messages. I have checked all settings and they are correct however, under announce messages it says message announcements currently silenced. I have checked everything no focus is activated phone is not on silent (although this shouldn’t matter it never has) please help going on a long trip tomorrow and need it sorted

UPDATE: I use a VPN for travel and had accidentally left it on. I turned off my VPN and CarPlay now works as expected again.

Same problem with Ford Mach-E. Apple connect read texts and all before upgrade. Now nothing, and my music cuts in and out at will. Do I need to revert back to older version in backup or is there a fix coming soon

Thank you for this post. I have been going crazy trying to figure this out too. There was nothing wrong with the way it worked before. Easy for me to see who the text was from and then use the touch screen to have Siri read it. Was this a safety or privacy issue? Why did it need to be changed?

I updated my 15 pro max to 18.1.1 yesterday. I was driving and all of a sudden my CarPlay disconnected. I’m unable to connect it ever since. Tried everything so far, but no luck

I'M sure with all the issues with this update Apple will miraculously have another update. As they say in tech world 'Fix one, break one'!! My CarPlay is nada at the moment.

Ever since updating my iPhone 15 Pro to iOS 18.1.1 Car Play no longer connects to my 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. Bluetooth connects, but wired Car Play does not work.

I’m in Australia I don’t even know if we can have a vpn how would I know? I even tried buying a different cord with data capabilities still doesn’t work. This update is a joke!!

Let's just hope Apple can fix this instead of trying to remember to turn VPN on and off. I'll try it. Thanks for the info.

My iPhone 14 Pro updated last night to 18.1.1 and now today I can't connect to Apple Carplay on my 2024 Pacifica. Guess I need to wait for the update to the update. 🤬

The same thing has happened to me. My phone is showing on my car but it just will not connect back up to CarPlay, just keeps timing out! So frustrating.

Interesting enough my issues were resolved a couple days ago. Not sure if they did some update to CarPlay as mine is working. A little hopefor you people out there that I’ve had similar problems.

I agree hopefully Apple can fix this as I also cannot get my phone to sync up with CarPlay. I have tried all the suggestions and nothing works.
