Apps don’t work after updating to iOS 18.1.1

I updated my iOS to 18.1.1 on my iPhone pro max 16 last night and this morning I’d say about 80% of my apps refuse to open. Reinstalling doesn’t seem to solve the issue. Causing me major issues as I can’t open my banking apps to verify transactions. Can anyone tell me how to roll back my iOS update or if there is a fix?

I found a way to open the apps. It was still a big pain.... I went into the App Store app. I then clicked on my profile at the top of the app. I updated any apps that needed updating, and then opened every app one by one from the App Store app. I had to find and re-enter some of my passwords, but I believe everything is working now. The biggest headache was getting my password manager app working to allow me to get to the passwords.

is anyone having trouble with the watch .. I cant get the watch to do anything except tell time...
of course 3 of the 4 phones i have are suffering battery depletion at an alarming rate since the upgrade... and you messed with my photos... good gosh why did you screw so much up

We didn't mess anything up. We aren't apple. This is a user to user only forum. Nothing was messed up for me with the iOS 18.1.1 update. No problems with 2 Apple Watches. No battery drain. And my photos are all there in the newly enhanced and expanded Photos App.

Have you forced restarted either your phone of watch?

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Restart Apple Watch - Apple Support

And if you'd like to customize the new Photos app --> Customize the Photos app on iPhone - Apple Support

So many issues since the update. Just discovered another of several apps that are screwed up. Tonight a favorite photo editing app has lost all of its special features. I pay a lot for the app.

And for the most part, the ringer has stopped working, so I’m not alerted for text or phone calls.

I have rebooted the phone several times to no avail. Really frustrated and hope there’s a newer update soon that can correct the bugs and issues.

I feel exactly the same way D1..!!

QUITE BOTHERSOME, to say the least..!! Through trial and error, I’ve been able to fix most of the issues I had or at least can work through them now. Initially, I had a problem with the calculator, and editing photos, but I figured both of those out. The issue that I still have, and it REALLY BOTHERS me, IS THAT SIRI DOES NOT WORK..!!

U N B E L I E V A B L E . . . . ! ! ! !

I used to use Siri quite a bit, she was both quite informative and enjoyable to use. You almost felt like you were talking to a real human being.

NOT ANYMORE..!!

most of the time if you ask Siri something now, she’ll respond with her two syllable “ah huh..?!”

then, when you proceeded to ask her a question, you get a message on the top of your screen.

Siri’s VERBAL RESPONSE IS NOW GONE.

S M H . . ! ! 🥲🙁😡

ME TOO, Larry..!!

I enjoyed SIRI and used it often, but “Hey Siri…” DOES NOT WORK on my iPhone AFTER the iOS 18 UPGRADE..!! UGH..!!

SPECIFICALLY, when I ask SIRI a question NOW, I get the normally expected two-syllable response of “ah huh…”, THEN… when I ask my question, there is NO VERBAL response from SIRI, ONLY A SILENT MESSAGE at the top of my screen.

And to make matters worse, that message DISAPPEARS within a few seconds..!! UGH..!! 😡😡😡😡😡

I was so pumped because I've been looking for an answer since upgrading a few days ago. Search is the main feature that broke for me (search in mail. search in spotlight. search in notes...). I reset network settings, as described above. After the reboot I was excited because things seemed to be working, but, as some other users have mentioned, search stops working again about a few seconds. I'm not a hater, but this is, indeed, the worst iOS update I've ever experienced. I hope this is fixed quickly. Everything takes 10x longer on the phone without search.

Hello, LarryEgerton!

Siri does not work no matter what I do after the 18.11 update

Many people have had the same issue as you, but many did find a solution. I suggest that you try searching “voice recognition” in Settings. For some people, the switch flipped off after the update. If it’s off, turn it back on and then check if Siri works.

If Siri still doesn’t work, submit a bug report on the Apple feedback page and then contact the Official Apple Support.

I hope this helps!

Calendar is all jacked up for several users. Notes app is still there but either most or all of the separate notes have disappeared. Group chats are missing parts of conversations - both past and present. There is a major delay in receiving text messages - not a carrier issue.

Will the new iOS 18.2 correct these issues and return our phones to the state they were in - that is, all apps working as advertised and the restoration of items such as Notes?

Makes me wonder if the iOS's are beta tested on all models and devices before pushing out the code. This was a bad deployment and needs to be corrected. This is not a good look for Apple.

I can't answer that as I never had any issues with Notes or Calendar or anything using iOS 18.1.1. (or any other version of iOS 18). And I like the new version of Photos.

Apple makes beta software publicly available. Lots of people participate. You can, too!
