Latest version of macOS Monterey 12.7.6 not available on App Store

Hi, I live in Italy where unfortunately Apple did not set up a local Apple community. I would like to create a bootable USB installer of the latest version of macOS Monterey, i.e. 12.7.6 but when I try to unload it from my App Store, the download window asks me to confirm if I want to download 'macOS Monterey 12.7.4'.

Of course this wouldn't be a problem if I were to install it on a new drive, I would just update this version following the instalment. However, if I try to re-install it on a drive that already has the updated version, i.e. 12.7.6, of course the installer will warn me that it cannot downgrade.

Is there a particular reason why Apple has not made the latest version available on the App Store?

Thank you

Within that linked article is a link to another article that has links to various macOS installers. See if the Monterey link in that article will give you the 12.7.1 installer. Here is a direct link to the Apple article which has links to various versions of macOS:

How to download and install macOS - Apple Support

If that still does not give you the proper installer, then try using the Terminal with the following commands....the first will check to see which installers are available for your computer while the second is the command to download a specific version of macOS installer....you need to use one of the valid version numbers from the previous command:

softwareupdate --list-full-installers

softwareupdate -d --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version <version-number>

For macOS 12.7.1, the last command would be:

softwareupdate -d --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.7.1

If none of this works, then try rebooting the computer. I know when Sequoia was first released none of my computers would show the most recent versions or even download them. It was a month later when my laptops finally were able to list all of the available versions & allow a download using the command line. Sometimes these Macs just get into a state where they won't properly see the update....or it could be an Apple issue (or both).

Thanks, but I know how to create a bootable USB installer, that's not the problem. As I explained, the latest version of Monterey, i.e. 12.7.6 is not available from Apple. It is only possible to download the old 12.7.4 version, which is fine, albeit absurd, if you have to install it on a virgin drive, and then you can update to the latest version. However, if you need to re-install Monterey over the latest version, the installer with the older version cannot downgrade. Hence, my question.

Thanks, I already tried all those links and the terminal commands before and only the old version was available. The fetch-full-installer command for the 12.7.6 version resulted in no version found and there is only the old Monterey 12.7.4 version in the list-full-installers terminal command.

I already have the latest version of Monterey 12.7.6 on my mac, as I already explained, I need to download the installer to create a bootable USB installer.

FWIW. the Terminal commands work for me.

Er... did you read my original post? I am not wasting my time trying to download 12.7.6, I'm trying to understand why the latest version is not available. Also, I guess you did not understand my reply to Matti. What Matti wrote was just a repetition of my opening argument (and what others, such as Peter Pappas posted), which ended with the question: “Is there a particular reason why Apple has not made the latest version available on the App Store?”

Does re-installing via the Recovery or Internet Recovery on top of the 12.7.6 work? Does it install 12.7.6 or 12.7.4?

As for the original question "Is there a particular reason why Apple has not made the latest version available on the App Store?": I guess Apple updated some glitch like an old certificate but left the fix for such old software half-way and forgot to finish it.
