Microsoft currently only supports new MS Office application installations on macOS Ventura (13), Sonoma (14), or Sequoia (15).
Then you cannot download and install that software unless and until you can update your Mac to macOS 13 or later. If your Mac is too old to support anything other than macOS 12 Mavericks, then you will not be able to use Microsoft Office unless you can find an old copy of Office 2021 somewhere.
