Since a previous update that included a lot of enhanced security features like face recognition, early October 24, WhatsApp is no longer showing in Apple CarPlay in any of my cars… there are now too many people discussing this problem for it to be external to Apple and for it to disappear after an known update isn’t coincidence.. For myself WhatsApp was crucial in many ways whilst I drove.. apple please fix this issue

To be clear, if you hold down the WhatsApp icon on your phone, did you turn off the facial recognition here? It is exactly what I did to restore the app to carPlay.

Yep...that was the problem. Turn off facial recognition for WhatsApp then go into the CarPlay settings on the phone and under "Customise" click reset...everything as it was now.
I had this problem too. You probably enabled WhatsApp's facial recognition. Just disable it and the app will appear again in Carplay.

OMG OMG that’s just done it after months the holding down the icon and resetting omg can’t believe it thank you … I’d tried in app and on via apps menu and just everything never heard about the hold the icon down before . Aww thank you absolutely chuffed
It's more likely a WhatsApp issue; the app is notoriously buggy.
Hi yes you are correct I had done that with one of the recent updates and although I’ve switched it off in WhatsApp app and again with the Apple app menu it won’t go off or reset … I’ve tried all sorts
Hi Sam they’re both off for facial recognition, for WhatsApp and hitting reset in CarPlay isn’t working it’s still not even showing me WhatsApp as an app to even add telegram is there etc but I just can’t get WhatsApp back and it’s so dangerous for me as I work from the car too
I’m not sure what WhatsApp can do to help when this has been an issue for a lot of Apple users since the update ? Surely it’s an Apple issue
I’ve emailed iPhone support at WhatsApp see what they come back with and I’ll update, there seems to quiet a lot of people experiencing it
