I am using Phonto app on iphone 15 for writing over pictures in PHONTO APP ( free version). While a few such free downloads of Hindi and Gurmukhi or Punjabi decorative Fonts from font websites do work, many of them Do Not, even if these are installed in the app gallery and are visible. Anyone having a solution may help me with a How to go about this? Thank you! Bhupinder Singh , Amritsar, India-Punjab.

Perhaps the non-working fonts are legacy encoded and not Unicode? Apple normally only supports Unicode Indic scripts.
Or are you typing with the standard English keyboard? Unicode fonts require you to use the Apple Hindi, etc. input sources.

No. Some apps just do not support fonts from outside iOS. Otherwise it is because the fonts are the wrong format or have some defect.
With non-Unicode fonts, you type Indic via the English keyboard (normally not possible in Apple devices). With Unicode fonts you type Indic by using the Hindi keyboard, etc. (standard for Apple devices).
Thanks for prompt reply. I being a layperson do not know the difference between the structure of fonts ie unicode or non unicode! However I have tried writing through globe typewriters of Hindi Punjabi and English fonts but it didn’t work. I think that some of the fonts are stonewalled by ios for these may contain any malware or so? Licence May also be a possible reason?
