Unable to find downloaded Photos on my iPad Air

Perhaps it is a difference due to device or OS version (I’m air5 and 18.1.1)?

For me a long press on the thumbnail in “files” also gives access to the share options but “save image” is not in there.

A short press on the thumbnail opens the image itself. When I do that and try a long press it does nothing, but a short press shows the share options icon in the top right of the screen, when choosing that, the “save image” is available.

Not sure why mine is different but at least both potential solutions are now stated here for posterity.

I think I’ve found where you went wrong.

you don’t long press on the image in the files app, you first have to open it up full screen.

Then short press and when you choose “share” in the top right you then get the option to “save image”.

Then it appears in “photos”

The thumbnail is an image, that’s kind of the point. And long pressing on it “in files” suggests that you look for it in the files app and then do the long press. If the image needed to be opened first then best to clearly say so.

Also. With the image opened you can’t actually do a long press, just a short one.

I gave the instructions above to my wife and she was baffled by it as well. Not just me.

Yes, but the problem is that I can't see any way to import the photos from the files app into the photos app. How do I do that?

That doesn't work. The share option doesn't give the option of moving it to photos
