Cannot send myself text messages since ios 18 update

I used to be able to easily send myself text messages (which I do often as reminders), but since the latest ios 18 update I can't do so easily. I can still get it to work if I type in my whole phone # manually, but it won't work if I put in my name like I used to. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. I did go in and see my contact card was turned off after the update but still doesn't work after turning the contact card back on.
