Progress Bar with apple logo not reaching to login screen.

When i start my macbook air ( Model 2018) , the progress bar with apple logo does not reaches to login screen. Progress bar loads multiple times but macbook keeps on restarting with Chime sound. Some days back i clicked on the software update ( OS Monterey ) , after which the problem started. I tried multiple options but i am also not able to recover it from the old disk image. I took support from the apple service centre and they are also unable to fix it. They are saying to replace the exisiting SSD drive. Can anyone suggest what to do ?

If you already tried all of the steps that WheelieNick has provided you, and Apple has already checked out your laptop and suggested that you replace the Mac's SSD, then there is a good chance that is what the issue is and I would suggest that you follow their advice.

Not booting up fully, nor the inability to access Recovery Mode is a very strong indicator that there is a hardware issue with your Mac.

Since you can't boot up your Mac at all, there is no way to narrow down further troubleshooting to verify that the SSD, is indeed, faulty. It is now up to you to replace the SSD or not. There is very little anyone here can offer you beyond what has already been provided. Good luck!

Hi there,

Please see this on what to do about this issue

If startup never progresses beyond an Apple logo or progress bar:

  1. Press and hold the power button on your Mac for up to 10 seconds, until your Mac turns off. (Every Mac has a power button. On laptop computers that have Touch ID, press and hold Touch ID.)
  2. Turn your Mac back on.
  3. If the issue persists, press and hold the power button until your Mac turns off. Then unplug all nonessential accessories from your Mac, including printers, drives, and USB hubs. You could have an issue with one or more of those devices or their cables.
  4. Turn your Mac back on.
  5. If the issue persists, once again press and hold the power button until your Mac turns off.
  6. Try to start up from macOS Recovery and repair your startup disk as described in this article: How to repair a Mac disk with Disk Utility.
  7. If the issue persists, try to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery.

If your Mac continues to start up to an Apple logo or progress bar, it might need service. Get service.
