Hello
On my wife's aged iPhone SE whenever she keys in a text the characters appear in French, despite have the keyboard set to English.
She is using IOS version 18.1.1
We have tried a reboot of the phone, but this has no effect.
Does anyone have any ideas?
All answers are appreciated.

That sounds like you have wound up with one of the new “bilingual “ keyboards. If it doesn’t behave the way you want, you can go back to 2 monolinguals with a globe key

Use the edit button to remove French from the list.
Could you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?
Also tell us what you have on the list at settings / general / keyboard / keyboards
If you want English, you just tap the Globe key to set it to that. Is the iPhone creating French when the globe key says it is English? Is the globe key setting switching randomly from English to French?

My wife is dozing now and I don't really want to wake her (long day and a Covid jab)

Thanks for this, but it is no good because she actually wants to switch between French and English.
However the default should be English.
