iPhone XS issues after 18.1.1 update

After the update there was a few days of the iPhone working great. Today it won’t even let you type, swipe up, anything! It’s acting crazy. The only thing I can do is turn it off and on. That didn’t help either. Do I need a new phone?

Sent for my husband because he can’t.

Ok so we ended up taking it to the Apple Store. They ran a diagnostic test on the phone. It was an issue with the screen itself.

The Apple technician said sometimes when you update an older phone that is almost full and not enough room for the update this could happen.

so we ended up trading it in for a new iPhone. All is well now. 😊

Excellent!

Updates Affecting Storage:

Updates are often of little size, (by today's storage capacity standards, that is). So, if you are down on space, here is a common reply of mine to refer to.

Troubleshooting iPhone Storage:

Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. So, the maximum internal storage capacity never increases, even if you upgraded your iCloud plan. Learn More here: What's the Difference Between Device Storage and iCloud Storage? Apple Support

So, what to do...

Troubleshooting Unresponsiveness After an Update:

Clear the Caches.

Clear "System Data":

Clear the storage named "System Data". It basically contains unnecessary files such as caches that are used for system ease of use - all of which gather over time. Use my User Tip: How to Clear "System Data" in your iPhone's Storage: - User Tip. Caches would be being used for remembrance of application use. So, clearing other may be the way to go about this, as it would be performed through use of a computer.
